Halo: A Post-Pandemic Look at Personal Radiance

June 18 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

After a harrowing COVID quarantine which saw untold racial injustice and gender inequirty as well as a vitriolic presidential election cycle, Nate Hester offers three previously unexhibited series to explore personal and communal radiance: (a) HALO – 8 egg tempera and gold leaf on birch panels (exploring the sheer beauty of Eastern Orthodox iconography), (b) TAR BABY – 6 ink drawings of self-mutilating elephants, sad girls and Hangman games (investigating the ways violence is perpetuated in our society after Hurricane Katrina) and (c) OKLAHOMA CENTERFOLD – 20 miniature linoleum block prints of slapstick erotica (because we all are kinky even during global health epidemics).  Please come and enjoy this full meal of visual content. LIVE MUSIC will be offered by Ben Youngblood: https://www.facebook.com/thebenyoungblood/
