The Artisan Market at 305: 5-Year Anniversary Party Do Over!

Fri August 19 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

DO OVER Five Year Anniversary Party! The storm eliminated the June drum event so let’s celebrate again with drum, dance and art on Friday August 19 along with Third Friday festivities.  Drums will be on fire as One Tribe and guests play in the CCB Plaza 6:30-8:30 and you can join in!

Meet the artists in the store Friday night! Kayte Price of Smiling Elephant Studios, DeDe Richardson of Pickle Pie Pottery and Laura Wendell of Heathenn Handmade will all be on hand to talk to you and demo some of their work! Andrew Lonon will open up the Sculpture Studio in the back of the store!

Kayte of Smiling Elephant Studio has accumulated beautiful collections of beads, talismans and artifacts. These are both the inspiration and the materials for the special pieces she will be bringing to Third Friday. These will focus on Buddhist and East Asian talismans and vintage African trade beads and amulets. She is designing and making jewelry for people who really get the one of-a-king, handmade vibe.

DeDe of Pickle Pie Pottery is known for wonderful textured pottery and air plant tripods!  She will be bringing new work not typically shown in our gallery including some larger vases.  DeDe Richardson is driven by texture and movement and loves making pieces that are not only beautiful to look at but are irresistible to pick up and touch. The texture designs in her pieces are created with a combination of hand carving, custom made stamps, and clay slips. Let her show you more about hand building with clay and carving custom stamps.

Laura Wendell of Heathenn Handmade wows you in the store with her prismatic rainbow window decals, emu eggshell jewelry and fabric lamps. For Third Friday she will also talk about and demonstrate her incredible origami skills! What do mountains, valleys, blitzes and squashes have to do with folding paper? Find out as Laura demonstrates how to fold life-like paper butterflies and intricate woven medallions. The butterflies are traditional origami made from one sheet of paper. The medallions are kusudama, or modular origami, made from 8 sheets of paper folded into interlocking shapes.  She would love to answer your questions about any of her work.
